  • Jesus Stands Trial Before Pilate *****Washes his hands******

As Roman governor and supreme judge in the province from 26-37 A.D., Pilate had the sole authority to execute a criminal. This soldier and politician found himself caught between the unforgiving empire of Rome and the religious scheming of the Jewish council, the Sanhedrin

  • 7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate

  • 7 a.m. Jesus Returned to Pilate

  • 21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

  • 22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

  • 23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

  • 24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

  • 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

  • 8 a.m.

  • Jesus is Led Away to Calvary
    (Matthew 27:32-34; Mark 15:21-24; Luke 23:26-31; John 19:16-17)

  • 26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

  • 28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

    The Crucifixion

    9 a.m.- "The Third Hour"

  • Jesus is Crucified on the Cross

  • Mark 15: 25 - It was the third hour when they crucified him.. (The third hour in Jewish time would have been 9 a.m.)

Luke 23:34 - Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

  • The Soldiers Cast Lots for Jesus' Clothing
    (Mark 15:24)

  • 10 a.m.

  • Jesus is Insulted and Mocked

  • Matthew 27:39-40 - And the people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery. "So! You can destroy the Temple and build it again in three days, can you? Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross!"  How satan tries to get you off track tear you down break you down, make you doubt your vision, doubt your gifts, doubt your mission from God, they shout things like who do you think you are, you are not strong enough, smart enough, rich enough, you are just lacking and worthless. Our God use the weak things the stupid things the ugly things the fat things the disspised things of this world and with the right amount of pressure a worthless piece of black rock becomes the most dazzling diamond, with a little pressure a little fashioning by God’s hands and a lump of clay becomes the most dazzling of pottery, a priceless work of art. On the Potters wheel Some times not even your Pastor can understand your vision. Not anything against your Pastor but God didn’t call your Pastor to do it. Look at Elijah he could not hear because God wasn’t speaking to him, look at Solomon, David his father could not build the temple that vision was given to Solomon. When God gives you a vision quit going to man for confirmation.we can be anything.

  • 11 a.m. Jesus and the Criminal

Luke 23:40-43 - But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

  • Noon- "The Sixth Hour"

  • Darkness Covers the Land

  • Mark 15:33 - At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.

I want you to notice the similarity between the earth before God created everything Genesis 1: 1-3 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Is this Jesus not the light of the whole world

  • Self Rising Sunday Morning

  • 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. Church what are we worried about what have we cried out about in the middle of the night, what have we whisperded into our pillow or into the night? What causes our unrest causes us to tremble in fear? What terror or horror or hurt or shame have we suffered through, what weight do we carry in the recesses of our minds and hearts and soul, that no man knoweth. These are the things Jesus knows and understands. These are the sins our Lord and Savior stepped down from Glory, to take care of to be finished with, because He thought you and I were worth it restoration of the relationship with His creation His personal relationship available to each and every one that asks, that hunger for that thirst, Sonship. He suffered for, was spit on and reviled for, these sins these dirty little secrets we all have for these and so much more he let them whip Him and slap Him and doubt Him, His creation and His Holy City, here where He promised to meet His people here He had to look out at the haters their faces twisted with jeers. Jesus is our great example that we too can rise, not because of us but because of that deposit of the Holy Spirit. When we are hated remember He was hated but it didn’t stop Him. Haters gotta hate, not your worry not your concern. When they hurt you, you spend so much time just excalaiming I didn’t do nothing I was nice to them, He created them they killed Him in His city. You in pain, even in pain Jesus took time to take car of His mother,in the mdst of pain He took the time to promise a thief a place in heaven, push through the pain and run your race. Sorrows your problem, Jesus was a man of sorrows Isaiah 53 He is despised and rejected of men; a man ofsorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our this faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. What are you sorrowing or mourning about, did someone do you wrong betray you, kill someone you loved. They killed many of God’s prophets His anointed even anointed even killed Him, sorrow no more, weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning, this commemorates our morning of Joy, when Jesus got up and let us know showed the example that we can get up, no matter what, get up. I’, so glad He got up for when He got up we became joint heirs. Romans 8 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.  Celebrate the joy of Easter He got up, and take the Lord with you everywhere you go, and whenever you feel you can’t get up not one more time, remember these words He got up so you can get up, just lean and depend on Him and listen to that still voice that deposit that HS that Jesus came to leave for us and let us cleave to the Father Son and Holy Spirit Get up because He got up and in you flows living waters and that spirit ever encouraging us to getup used the self-rising power of the HS that dwells in each of us God bless and Happy Easter
