Scripture: Ephesians 1: 3-11
Sermon Title: Adopted and Redeemed
Let us think on Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; In today's society we look for every reason to celebrate and celebrating life is good. We celebrate D-Day when the allied forces including America ma When Jesus came as rched into France liberating the French frim Germany, the beginning of the end for Hitler and the Nazis. We as Christians have a greater reason to celebrate and praise for His work of redeeming us through the blood of Jesus. Redemption is the act of releasing a slave by paying off their indebtedness with a price. The Romans ruled the world at one time and had slaves from all over the world the only way for them the only hope they had was to pay off their slave owners. Romans 6 23 and John 8: 34-36 say the same thing For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We are no longer indebted to sin Praise God we have a redeemer who was willing to give all for our redemption even to the point of hanging on a tree or cross, Galations 3: 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. Through we have access to the blessings pf Abraham, which have nothing to do with the message preached by prosperity preachers, no it speaks of the blessedness the joy of being redeemed from sin by the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 9: 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? When Jesus came as High Priest He was the last sacrifice no longer the blood of animals which had to be shed yearly, no now through Christ blood we are forever redeemed, once and for all. I know it was the blood for me, one day when I was lost Jesus died upon the cross and I know it was the blood for me. Rock of ages cleft for me let me hide myself in the let the water and the blood from his wounded side which flowed, be of sin the double cure save from wrath abd make me pure. Romans 8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Jesus condemed sin in the flesh, so now celebrate be glad for we have Jesus, celebrate our victory over sin through Jesus Christ. Little Nyger in Memphis is a great example of why we celebrate, a week a go she was in ICU and last Thursday she was beack in school. We serve a great and awesome God slow to anger and quick to forgive. Celebrate continue to trust in Him, For the blood shall never lose it's power. Thank God for the redemptive blood of Jesus and our adoption as sons and daughters and joint heirs through His blood. May Gos bless yoiu.
