Scripture: Psalm 139: 1-6

Sermon Title: He Already Knows

This morning our scripture was from one of the most beloved Psalms 139 and our sermon is entitled He Already Knows. I came to tell you this morning that no matter what your situation, it was no surprise to God, there was no panic in God when you cried out, it was already done, so no matter what it is, how bleak, how seeming hopeless, how enormous and frightening it may seem God already knows about it. We are told in this Psalm in verse 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. This is why the scripture in Isaiah 65 reads in verse 24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. It is because we serve the One true God who is omnipotent and omniscient that we can know, by the time we get there He is already there and He knows all about it. You knew we would be here today and you know exactly what we need. I just want a few minutes to show you Biblically that whatever situation you may have gotten yourself into, or your children have gotten themselves into or any of us have gotten ourselves into, God will take care of you. Let me take you back to the beginning. Let’s begin with Cain and Able. We start in Genesis 4 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” God is here letting Cain know that God knew all about it, God knew Cain’s heart, He knew Able’s heart. You see Cain’s heart always leaned toward disobedience and therefore it was only a matter of time before he showed his true colors and sinned against God. So you say what about poor Able well God had a plan to not only save Able but all God’s creation. You see God knew all along He would come down in the form of Jesus and He would stop by and pick up Able and take him home to glory. You see this is where we get confused we get caught up with what is happening in this life in this world, we forget this is not our home this is not our final resting place. The 9-week old found buried killed and buried by his mother and father. It broke my heart this baby only lived 63 days and not all those days were good ones, but you see God had a place held for this baby in His kingdom, for all we know God sent out a call I need someone to go down to earth for just a little while only 63 days and you can come back home. When the mother finally confessed she said she just couldn’t lose the two people she loved on the same day. What she didn’t understand is she didn’t lose that baby that day that baby went back home to God. It took a little while but 1000 years is but a twinkling in the eye of God. Oh but my Bible says in Ephesians 4:8 This is why it[a] says:“When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.”[b] Jesus went to the underworld and led the captive free He went by and got Adam He stopped by and got Able, He went and got all His children that died before Jesus came stood in the gap. Let us look at Saul God knew even when He chose Saul that it would not end well for the Isrealites. In 1st Samuel 8 God warns Israel against asking for a king, 10 Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and. commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.” There that freedom of choice bit us again. You see God knew this was a bad idea He had Samuel warn the people but even being warned they would not relent. We think if we knew the future we could avoid all the puitfalls of life, but you don’t you see even knowing we will make the wrong choice. You see without God we will always fail it is our nature. Our flesh is weak and our knowledge is limited we see through a mirror darkly especially if we walk by sight and not by faith. In the end God had Samuel annoint and Saul brought so much turmoil in the country all because they were determined to have a king. God knew what Saul would do and as always God had a ram in the bush. Let us now look at David the greatest king ever after Jesus, even before God had David anointed King, God knew about Bethsheeba, God knew David would sin, God knew a child would die because of that sin and when David came to the place where his child died look at what David says in II Samuel 12 21 His attendants asked him, “Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!” 22 He answered, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.’ 23 But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.” David knew he could trust God He knew God had it all under control, so David stopped mourning and went on with his life. In doing so David and Bathsheeba made and gave birth to Solomon. God alressady knew He would take this child home. He knew how David would react and again a ram in the bush King Solomon. Lastly let us look at Paul formerly another Saul. II Corinthians 12 6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. . But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. You see God knew He could use this with Paul, He knew the relationship He had with Paul He knew He could trust Paul to follow His example, He could trust Paul to do the right thing, God already knew He could trust Paul’s heart to be obedient. Can God trust you? I don’t know but God knows. He knows your heart and He knows mine. God already knows He knows how much you can bear. I don’t know who may be in pain in the house I don’t know what you’re facing but I can assure whatever it is our God is so high you can’t go around Him, so low you can’t go under Him and so wide you can’t go around Him. There is nothing in your life that is too big for God. There is nothing you are facing that is a surprise to God. By the time you get to you prayer closet or fall to your knees or even have the prayer on your lips God already has a way of escape for you, for God already knows about it. Fear not for I am with you both now and to the ends of the age.
